The Freedom Reader

--Read, Think, Contribute!

Home

The Freedom Reader is a low vision reading aid developed by two brothers, John and Mark Kahrhoff.  We are establishing this site to share our invention, to provide utilities for the visually impaired to better access printed information, and to establish a community to exchange ideas for how we can better include the blind and visually impaired in the information revolution the world is experiencing now.

On this website you will find technical specifications about our device and computer applications we have written to make its functionality more robust.  All of this is OPEN SOURCE.  We have no profit motive.  We offer this information in a spirit of goodwill, believing that it is a fundamental social injustice that, in the age of modern computer technology, so many people must go to heroic lengths to do something as simple as read a grocery list.

You are free to download and to use any information you find on this site.  However, you must credit the work we have done in any further developments and OPEN SOURCE your designs, programs, and other innovations back this site.

Contribute Today!

This web site will depend upon contributions of ideas from readers.  Please contact us anytime. If you have an idea, a computer application, a device that you'd like to open source for the benefit of the visually impaired.  We look forward to hearing from you.
